Founder's Message

Giby Farm began with a vision that has always been very close to my heart.

Having studied Botany, I have always dreamed of creating a place where my love for nature could come to life, a place where people could slow down, reconnect with nature, and create beautiful memories together. After stepping away from JRG, I finally took the step towards turning that dream into reality, and Giby Farm was born.

But this journey was never mine alone.

My brother Jerry has been my constant support, strength, and encouragement throughout this journey. What began as one brother’s vision soon became a shared journey built on trust, love, and the belief that we could create something truly meaningful together.

Giby Farm is more than just a farm to us. It is a reflection of our dreams, our hard work, our love for nature, and the memories we hope to create for everyone who visits.

We are deeply grateful to our parents, families our wives, our children, and our loved ones, for standing beside us, supporting our dreams, and making sacrifices along the way. Their love and encouragement have been an important part of this journey.

Today, we look at Giby Farm with immense gratitude and hope. What started as a dream has become a place we are proud to share with others.

With love and gratitude,

Giby & Jerry Mathew

About Highlights

What Makes Our Farm Special

Ravana kidnapped Goddess Sita and held her captive in the Ashoka Vatika garden in Lanka. To keep her spirits up, he forced her to stay under the shade of a sacred Shimshapa tree, where she spent her days mourning in grief and deep devotion to Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman, having arrived in Lanka, perched himself high in the branches of the Shimshapa tree. From there, he began to sing the glories of Lord Rama to comfort Sita.

Seetharmudi or Arbudhanashini) is a traditional Indian medicinal and ornamental plant. It is famous for a unique physical trait: its delicate parts look like layered traditional earrings (jhumkas) in the morning, but fold or twist to look like a braided hair-lock by the afternoon

Kothikallu are centuries-old border stones marking the ancient boundary between Kochi and Thiruvithamkoor kingdoms in Kerala. These historic stones were placed by kings to demarcate Territories, particularly along coastal areas to manage maritime trade routes. Historical Significance: These stones survive from a time when coastal transport was vital, with many found in the Muziris region. Location: They are frequently associated with the Muziris Heritage Project area, linking to the history of the Kochi-Thiruvithamkoor coastal border. The stones were used to represent the border between the erstwhile Travancore and Cochin kingdoms: The two princely states remained independent under the British rule in 1947 and under the Union of India until 1949. In 1949, these states merged to form the State of Travancore-Cochin and on 1 November 1956, the state of Kerala formally came into existence. These centuries-old stones have inscriptions on them – the Malayalam letter ''(KO) on one side representing Kochi, and 'a' (thi) on the other side which signifies Thiruvithamkur [Travancore]. It is believed that Kothikallu as they came to be known, or border stones, were placed to resolve the border issues among the neighbouring kingdoms, before independence. These stones were placed on both sides of the boundary, the boundaries being rivers, canals and roads. The area that lay between the stones was usually a 'no man's land'. These stones are still found in the area that comes under the Muziris project.

(Krishna fig or "Makhan Katori") is a sacred, low-maintenance plant native to India. It features unique, cup-shaped leaves that-according to Hindu mythology-Lord Krishna used to store stolen butter from his mother, Yashoda. It is widely celebrated across India by its common names: Krishna's Butter Cup or Krishna Fig.

Giby Farm is home to an impressive collection of 25 fern varieties, each adding to the diversity of plant life across the property. Growing throughout the gardens, shaded areas, and natural spaces, these ferns bring a rich variety of textures, forms, and shades of green to the farm’s landscape.
Among the collection are Bird Nest Fern, Cobra Fern, Crissie Fern, Maidenhair Fern, Rabbit’s Foot Fern, Cotton Candy Fern, Peacock Fern, Sawtooth Fern, Staghorn Fern, and Japanese Painted Fern, along with other varieties that further contribute to the farm’s distinctive botanical diversity.Together, these ferns create a lush and varied understory, complementing the gardens and enhancing the natural character of Giby Farm.

“We had such a wonderful time at Giby Farm! The staff were absolutely amazing—so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The beautiful nature and peaceful surroundings made our stay truly special. The food was incredible too—everything was so delicious! We only stayed for one night, so unfortunately we didn’t get enough time to explore the whole place, and that’s something we’re still regretting. 😄 Next time, we’ll definitely make sure to stay longer and give ourselves plenty of time to explore, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and simply relax. My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much, and we’re already looking forward to coming back! Definitely a place we would love to visit again. 🌿✨” Read full review by poojalakshmi DEEPAK on Google
